Arrest Records Of Louisiana

Criminal records of Louisiana, including Louisiana Arrest Records are maintained at the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information (BCII) section of the Louisiana State Police and the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC). The BCII provides criminal background information through the Louisiana Computerized Criminal History system (LACCH). It is also responsible for the Sex Offender Registry and Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). The DOC works hand in hand with the BCII to make criminal information accessible to justice agencies.

Accessing the information

Unlike many U.S. states, Louisiana does not allow access to the records of offenders to the public.

For non-government agencies and individuals in Louisiana, applicants for criminal information must be authorized by law health care, social and medical services, the gaming industry and regulatory functions. Private individuals can review but not obtain copies of their own records. To access arrest documentations at the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, two types of application forms are provided: a Record Authorization Form for checking own records and a General Disclosure Arrest Record Form for employment background checks. Forms should be submitted to BCII. Charge per application is $26 with an additional $10 fee for fingerprint-based searches while personal records cost $10 each.

Louisiana Department of Corrections

It is the responsibility of the Department of Corrections, Louisiana to keep adult offenders in custody. The number of offenders in Louisiana is about 38,000 as of 2009. However there is provision for about 19,000 inmates in the 12 state correctional facilities. This problem is solved by the housing of inmates at the parish and private correctional facilities. Some of the inmates under work release are housed in the various work release centers of Louisiana as well.

Apart from these offenders under incarceration, there are a number of offenders serving parole and probation sentences. These offenders number up to 63,000 and are under the supervision of the Probation and Parole Division of the Department of Corrections, Louisiana. Even the families of the inmates cannot access the records about the inmates. It is only the inmate who can request specific information and convey the same to whomever he or she wishes.

Louisiana is a closed records state. That means government criminal records sources are effectively out-of-bounds to the general public. General public must thus resort to private sources to obtain this information. With commercial record providers all over the Internet these days, furnishing quality arrest information to anyone in need within minutes 24/7 at excellent value- for-money prices has been made possible.

Louisiana Offender Locator System

There is a provision for individuals, however, to search for a particular inmate in the State of Louisiana. This is a comparatively new service offered to the public by the Department of Corrections Louisiana beginning on August 19, 2009. You can use the Offender Locator system to learn the details about a particular individual who has been arrested and is presently under incarceration. This service is available 24X7 and all you need to do is call 225-383-4580.

In order to obtain the information, you need to provide the full name of the individual and the date of birth. Or, you can check for the information by providing the specific Department of Corrections number assigned to every offender. The information offered includes housing assignment, the correctional facility address where the inmate is housed, a contact number of the facility and the release date of the offender (if any).

Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System

The Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System is another way of accessing certain information about Louisiana arrests if you have been the victim of a crime. The system functions under the joint supervision of the Office of the Governor and the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice. Do you know your neighbors? Your coworkers? Your friends? It is not uncommon to live and work among strangers in today's world; but you don't have to. Why? Thanks to the Federal Information Act, all U.S. citizens have access to public criminal records. Below, we discuss just what the purpose of a criminal records search, why you need one, and the

Criminal records are record accounts of all activities to be processed through the criminal justice and law enforcement bureaus; so, a criminal records search is for these public records. Criminal background records are categorized by type and jurisdiction, and held at various jurisdictions to which they pertain, as subject to nature of crime, locale, and other relating factors. Directly related to this is the criminal records search.

A criminal records search for criminal background information can be done on any individual. Perhaps, you are concerned about a new neighbor, a teacher at your child's school, a friend, or a colleague. Whoever it is-you want to find out if they have been involved in a criminal activity, to protect yourself and your family from potential future harm. Consider that many sex offenders live unnoticed in family neighborhoods, while many will reoffend at some point after they have served time or penalty for their crime. They could live amongst you, and you don't even know it. Why don't you know? Many people don't realize two things: first, that it is their right to search for this public criminal record information; and second, that it is easy, convenient, and confidential to do.
